ABOUT THIS SITAR - IJ MODEL
Sitar is as unique and fascinating instrument as the music it creates. There are different types of sitars and the construction of a quality sitar differs for each type. Making of sitar is a complex process. These instruments are crafted by experienced sitar 'makers' or 'fitters'.
This Sitar has been designed according to Kharaj Pancham Style & hence, it contains 7 Main Strings & 13 Sympathetic Strings. This Sitar is about 51 inches in Length and weighs around 3 KG. This Sitar has been specially designed using Tun Wood.
This Sitar is handcrafted in India and also contains bridges made from camel bone. It contains tasteful inlay work and fully decorated angur patta design to give it a beautiful look and is natural in color. It is accompanied with Mizrabs & Extra Set of Strings. This Sitar also contains one main gourd toomba. We have included a high quality Fiber Trolley, which can be very handy to transport this Sitar.

Normally our Sitars are made for right handed players, but we can change them to be Left handed at no extra cost.
This Sitar is a Kharaj Pancham (Ravi Shankar Style), but we can change it to Gandhar Pancham (Vilayat Khan Style) at no extra cost.

TUNING
Tuning of Main Strings
String farthest from the tuning pegs is chosen to be the first main string. Hence while holding the Sitar with its strings on your side, rightmost string would be the first string.
First String – Ma – F (an octave below middle C)
Second String – Sa – C (below the F of first string)
Third String – Pa – G (below C of second string)
Fourth String – Sa – C (2 octaves below middle C, below G of third string)
Fifth String – Pa – G – (above the F of first string)
Sixth String – Sa – C (Middle C, above the G of fifth string)
Seventh String – Sa – C (Above the C of sixth string)
Tuning of Sympathetic Strings
There is no hard & fast rule for tuning these strings. These can be tuned according to the raga you are playing.
