ABOUT MKS ESRAJ/ISRAJ - TUN WOOD - EAH MODEL
Esraj is one of the string instruments found in the eastern and central areas of India. It is considered to be about 200 years old. Esraj is mostly used as an accompanying instrument in Rabindra Sangeet. Esraj was earlier used by Namdharis. It?s a combination between sarangi and sitar. The base of the instrument resembles to that of sarangi while the neck and strings look like sitar.
Esraj we are providing here is a Esraj. It is dark in color and consists of 4 main strings & 15 sympathetic strings. It is Made by Monoj Kumar Sardar, Calcutta's premium esraj maker. It has been made from Tun wood (Cedar). Soundbox is crafted with beautiful wooden carving and tasteful inlay work. Special Horse Hair Bow is also included for playing the strings. Also a Rosin (a special paste made from the tree gum) and a sturdy storage case are included.
